New CAB 24v Hydro range

The brand new range of CAB 24v hydraulic motors have just arrived on the market and the quality is unquestionable. These bring more features and benefits to the hydraulic range which have not been available before. Our product specialist, Charlotte Briggs discusses the main features and how these will help improve the quality and safety of your installations.

  • The 24v motor is equipped with an encoder. This is not just any encoder though, this is a patent pending linear type encoder. It provides the most accurate performance in terms of precision of the gate movement but also the element of obstacle detection. The encoder provides the ability for an auto set up and other features that you don't see on 230v hydraulics.
  • The high end internal electric motor provides optimal thrust (power) and very intensive use with a long life span.
  • Each motor comes with a chrome plated steel shaft and an anodised aluminium profile. This ensures maximum resistance against atmospheric agents
  • Another innovative feature is the brass bypass valves. The high build quality including the brass valves give greater force regulation and again longer life span of the motor due to not using cheaper alternative components.
  • With the HYBRA control panel and the excellent encoder design you have the ability to electronically control the deceleration in opening and closing phases. This allows for maximum precision and the control to avoid strong impacts against physical stops or any other mechanical limit. This over time will extend the life span of the operator and prevent any damage to the gates.

  • Like all the CAB hydraulic range the wiring is away from the internal motor. To replace the power cable to some hydraulic motors on the market there is a very messy and oily scenario where the motor connections are internal on the ram, inside the oil bath. The CAB rams provide an external terminal board for quick and easy installation of cables.
  • Something unique to CAB hydraulic arms is the addition of physical stop brackets (HD.STC and HD.STL) which are two unique brackets that fit onto the operator and provide a physical stop on the ram itself. These fit in the end housing and surround the piston. Many hydraulic operators will quote a 'lock' or 'lock assist'. This is commonly known as a valve within the distribution head that prevents the hydraulic pump from being easily reversed.
  • Whilst the CAB rams (230v or 24v) have the AC version known as the 'lock assist', It is still not a firm physical stop and something which shouldn't be relied upon if you require any type of locking security. Our advice would always be to install a physical stop in the ground if you can. This is going to be stronger and more durable against force than a bracket. However, where you cannot get stops in the ground, or on a small domestic job where the gates are smaller these brackets are an ideal addition.
  • Due to the patented encoder design on the HYDRO 24v the brackets work slightly differently as you can only use one of the limits. The difference to the 230v rams is that the OPEN stop is made by the rings around the piston that is provided with the motor and the CLOSE stop is the same, the plate at the end of the bars. When using these brackets on the HYDRO24v there is a little bit of cutting down to do to the threaded bars that are provided.
