Above ground hydraulic gate kits are suitable for large commercial or industrial applications with heavy use as they are generally more powerful than gear driven openers. They often do not need to work at full power to operate large gates.

Hydraulic gate motors tend to be more robust and are work well in cold temperatures so are ideal for use in windy areas or any other harsh weathered environment and they tend to have a longer lasting life. They also require less maintenance than other options.

Hydraulic gate motors are available as non-locking to avoid any damage if hit by a vehicle.

Above ground systems require space behind the gate when in the open position. The ram arm in particular needs space between the gate and any obstruction.
