Forcetesters are used to assess the forces in the closing edges of automatic gates. All forces need to be within the safe parameters of the machinery directive. The results of the force testing can be used to identify equipment that can be fitted in order to reduce force and make the gate safer such as safety edges. Automatic gates are classified as machinery and must respond in a safe way whenever people are close to it.
