Above ground kits are designed to be mounted on the gate posts above ground so the motor is visible and requires less ground work. It is usually cheaper to install an above ground automation system than an underground system.

Installing an automatic gate system provides the convenience of not having to manually open the gate yourself.

What to consider?

The kits are available as 230v and 24v options.

Each kit can come with 1 motor for a single leaf swing gate or 2 motors for double leaf swing gates. Each motor has a weight capacity and length of gate as a maximum it can move.

Before choosing an automation kit, bear in mind the length of the gate leaf and the weight of it.

If a commercial or industrial site, the gate may need to be opened more frequently. Some above ground automation has higher cycle rate for intensive use

Geometry for fitting the motor is also important, check the manual for technical dimensions, but if the gate is mounted in the centre of a brick pillar for instance the motor is a straight angle and will not reach the gate if the bracket is not large enough.
