ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What is an Induction Loop Cable?
Induction loop cable is used in conjunction with loop detectors of 230v or 24v. The loop detector is a magnetic coil that senses the metal of a car, which then sends an electromagnetic impulse to the gate opener. Next, the gate opens, and the vehicle drives through the gate. It seems to work by magic, but it’s all very scientific.
How is the Induction Loop Cable Installed?
The induction loop cable is installed into the foundation or under the road surface. Depending on the size of the field range, the loop detector will recommend the amount of wiring needed and how many times to loop the cable.
Once the loop is placed into the foundation, the groundwork can be completed by covering the loop cable with the required material, such as concrete, block paving, tarmac, and others.
What are the Benefits of an Automatic Gate Opener?
When the induction loop cable has been properly installed, and the detector is working correctly, you’ll enjoy the benefits of having an automatic gate opener, including:
Property Perimeter Control
With an automatic gate opener, you have more control over who visits your property. That’s a great way to avoid issues such as unwanted disturbances. As a homeowner, you’ll have added privacy and enhanced security, especially if the gate is operated with a code or keypad to gain entry.
Convenience
One of the main advantages of an automatic gate is the convenience it offers. It’s no longer necessary to get out of the car on bad weather days to open and close the gate. In addition, gates can be heavy; however, with an automatic gate opener, kids, seniors, and others will have an easier time operating the gate.
Enhanced Property Value
Automatic gates can improve property value due to the added safety and sense of luxury they offer.
Protection for Kids and Pets
An automatic gate also works to keep kids and pets safe, allowing them to play freely outside. Parents feel more peace of mind knowing their kids or pets are not able to reach the street.
These are only a few of the many benefits you can experience with an automatic gate opener.
How Does the Loop Detector Get Into the Ground?
If the loop detector is part of new construction (such as a new home or business), the construction crew digs the trench between one to six inches deep. Next, the crew places a preformed loop (a direct burial loop) before laying the concrete or asphalt. The loop is secured to the rebar before the concrete is poured.
What if the Loop’s Not Detecting Cars Correctly?
Most detectors have adjustable settings in case the sensitivity is too low. In that case, the detector will miss vehicles.
On the other hand, if the detector is set too high, the gate will open each time a metal bike heads up the driveway.
Induction loop cable is available in 100m and 500m reels. Varying the mm depth of the cable available, we recommend 1mm, as anything smaller can be too brittle and snap. The larger cable can be too thick to loop.
